It’s been sometime that multimedia actress and former presidential daughter and sister of the late President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III has been loveless.
Although there were rumored romances of Kris Aquino but they were all, just that, rumors. Her neither-here-nor-there affair, though, with Herbert Bautista was a hot and loud item but it ended in a whimper.
Until she recently spilled the beans of the real score of her love life after a series of clues she had given about the man she would “spend the rest of her life with” as she mentioned in her Instagram posts several days ago.
The man is Mel Sarmiento, a political ally of her brother Noynoy Aquino and former secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under P-Noy watch.
Apparently, it’s been years since Kris and Mel were familiar with each other since the former was moving around the political party of the Aquinos—Sarmiento being the Secretary-General of the Liberal Party.
It was only a few years back that they were reconnected with each other (as per information shared by Kris herself) through Noynoy.
Although there were only a few private and personal things Kris had disclosed about their romance, Mel, according to her is the “man I said yes to spend the rest of my life with.”
Sarmiento, for Kris is her best friend aside from being her fiancé.
She attributed her gratitude to Noynoy who she said had performed the most divine matchmaking in her love search.
“Sure ako, ayaw nya talagang iwanan si ‘bunso’ na walang magbabantay at magaalaga na siguradong pinagkakatiwalaan nya (I’m confident that he didn’t want his youngest sister with no one to take care of her who he surely trusted). Somehow i believe there really was a matchmaker in heaven who must be smiling now- i can almost hear his voice telling me, ‘kristina, tama na (enough), respect the fact na gusto ni Mel ng tahimik na buhay (that he wants a quiet life)’,” noted Kris in her social media communication.
According to Kris, she and Sarmiento agreed to share with the public only limited things about them.
“We agreed, what’s personal shall remain private so hanggang dito lang ang pwede kong ma (here’s the only things I can) share. Except i guess to say as much as i am proud to be an Aquino, looking forward na kong maging (to be a Sarmiento)," said Kris.
The actress didn’t mention, though, the day when they would formalize their union and other details of their wedding.
