A Grade 9 student from San Pedro City, Laguna has brought pride to her city - and her country - after representing the Philippines on the international stage.
Sarah Sophia Cabodil, who is currently studying at De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, has returned from New York, United States, with an impressive haul of two gold medals, one silver, and two bronze medals at the recent NeoScience International Competition.
She earned recognition across three categories: Chemistry, Mathematics, and Codementum.
This is not the first time Cabodil, a native of Barangay Landayan, has competed in various competitions in the Philippines and abroad.
Last March 16, Cabodil was part of DLSZ delegation who bagged the Regional Honors Award at the 2026 Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges Hackathon in Mandaluyong City.
The group was commended under the Senior Division Manila Region for their project ZAIA, an AI-powered women’s health platform designed to help women understand their reproductive health risks earlier.
By analyzing health symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and hormonal indicators, it provides personalized risk assessments, AI-assisted hormonal pattern analysis, progress tracking, and guidance toward verified doctors and healthcare institutions.
ZAIA transforms everyday health data into actionable insights, helping women move from fear and uncertainty toward early, informed, and confident healthcare decisions.
“The students stood out among numerous entries that tackled real-world challenges related to women’s health, gender equality, and accessibility,” DLSZ officials said in a press release.
Beyond the medals, Cabodil’s achievement marks a proud moment for the City of San Pedro and serves as an inspiration to Filipino youth to pursue excellence through hard work and dedication.
From the local scene to the international stage, Sarah’s journey reflects the promise of young Filipino talent — and a victory worth celebrating.

"Congratulations on your incredible achievements... More than the medals, I hope you know that what you have achieved is something that our entire city can celebrate. You are a wonderful example of what our young people can accomplish when talent is matched with hard work and determination," Mayor Art Mercado, who granted her an audience last September 8, said.
