Shopee PH to showcase Calabarzon’s local products; MSMEs take advantage of Pinoys’ new preference for online shopping

LOOKING for slippers from Liliw, or embroidered clothing from Lumban? Look no further than in online shopping platforms.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – CALABARZON office has partnered with online shopping platform Shopee Philippines for the 2021 virtual trade fair called “Kalakal Calabarzon 2021,” which will run from February 19 to 21.

The program aims to help medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) in promoting their products nationwide and to keep their businesses afloat and generate sales especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The DTI 4-A will start the year with this momentous partnership with Shopee Philippines. We are very excited to introduce and showcase our region’s high-quality and innovative but affordable products to the millions of Shopee users,” DTI CALABARZON Director Marilou Toledo said in a statement.

During the three-day campaign, Shopee’s front page will feature the campaign banner containing the logos of the DTI and the participating stakeholders.

When clicked, the banner will lead users to the trade fair’s microsite.

In the KALAKAL CALABARZON 2021 microsite, seventy-three (73) CALABARZON MSMEs and their products will be featured.

Online shopping has seen a boom in the Philippines since the COVID-19 pandemic began last March, as Filipinos cooped inside their homes found online markets a convenient way of shopping during the lockdown.

During the first half of 2020 alone, online shopping in the Philippines increased by 57 percent according to iPrice Group’s Map of E-commerce Report. (JV)
