The 6,500-square meter site in San Pablo City is expected to house a “wide array” of institutions that will help the Filipino public as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers, the DTI said.
WITH the construction of the new provincial and regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry now slated to start this year, the agency hopes to bring its services closer to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) not only in Laguna province but also in the Calabarzon region as well.
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez joined local officials led by San Pablo City Mayor Loreto Amante at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Provincial and Regional Office at Barangay San Gregorio, San Pablo City last Wednesday (March 2).
The 6,500-square meter site is expected to house a “wide array” of institutions that will help the Filipino public as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers, the DTI said in a statement.
It will house the DTI-Calabarzon Complex, which will include an Innovation Center; co-working spaces for startups and business incubators; a Regional Office Consumer Protection Division Warehouse; the ASEAN MSME University; and the DTI Laguna Provincial Office, with a Negosyo Center and OTOP Hub.
These strategic plans would amplify the assistance and service provided by the agency as it reaches, through the help of LGU - San Pablo, greater lengths when it comes to infrastructure and programs, the agency added.
In his speech, Lopez expressed his gratitude to the local government of San Pablo for providing the site for the construction of DTI CALABARZON Complex.
“Isa pong karangalan na makadayo dito sa San Pablo, Laguna at narinig ko po ang generosity ng ating butihing Mayor Loreto Amante,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amante stressed on the importance of providing MSMEs easier access to government programs and services.
"Iyong mga adhikain, lalo na para sa ating mga negosyante, ay iyong nangibabaw kaya po natuloy ang ating groundbreaking ceremony at siyempre at ang pagtatayo ng Provincial and Regional Office (sic) ng DTI," he said.
