Senator Bong Go said that San Pablo’s poor residents need not to endure long lines and red tape anymore for their medical needs or expenses as all the services they need are now readily available at the city’s newest Malasakit Center.

WITH the opening of the 113th “Malasakit Center” in San Pablo City, indigent Lagunenses are now assured of faster aid for their medical needs.

This, as Senator Christopher “Bong” Go led the opening of the newest Malasakit Center, at the San Pablo City General Hospital last Thursday (May 20).

Malasakit Centers, which are institutionalized by Republic Act No. 11463 (Malasakit Center Act of 2019) authored by Go, are “one-stop shop” centers where indigents can avail of services from government agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth).

In his message, Go said that San Pablo’s residents now need not to endure long lines and red tape for their medical needs or expenses as all the services they need are now readily available at the Malasakit Center.

Meanwhile, San Pablo City Mayor Loreto Amante expressed his gratitude to Go for establishing the Malasakit Center which will be beneficial not only to San Pablo’s residents but also those from neighboring towns.

“Napakapalad ng lungsod sa pagkakaroon ng Malasakit Center dahil sa pamamagitan nito ay mas mapapalawak pa ang mabibigyan ng serbisyo ng San Pablo City General Hospital,” the mayor said in his speech.

Amante also recalled several civic programs Go had initiated for San Pablo City even before he became senator in 2019, including scholarship programs for 150 students in the city and expediting the repair of a bridge in Barangays Sta. Ana and Sto. Rosario.

Go has already allocated an initial fund of P2 million for the Malasakit Center in San Pablo, on top of the P10 million he has pledged to boost its services for San Pablo’s residents.

This is the second Malasakit Center established in Laguna province, after the 79th center was inaugurated at the Laguna Medical Center in the provincial capital of Sta. Cruz. (OpinYon News)
