A barangay chairman survived after being ambushed by still unidentified gunmen in Calamba City, Laguna Tuesday morning.

A barangay chairman in Calamba City, Laguna is now recovering from wounds he suffered after being ambushed early Tuesday (June 29).

The official was identified as Arvin Laude Manguiat, 44, and currently chairman of Barangay Palo Alto in this city.

According to police reports, the victim was on board a red SUV when still unidentified gunmen sprayed his car with bullets along Barangay Paciano Rizal.

The chairman suffered bullet wounds in his body and left arm but is now stable.

Calamba City authorities are conducting an investigation as to the possible motive of the ambush as well as the identity of the suspects. (ONT)
