SANTA CRUZ, Laguna — AT least six former rebels here received livelihood packs during the recent Barangayanihan Caravan held at Camp Paciano Rizal in Sta. Cruz.
The Laguna Provincial Police Office (PPO) and the provincial offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led the distribution of livelihood packs which contain seven cavans of rice and canned goods worth P20,000.
According to Laguna PPO, the livelihood packs can be used by former rebels to kick-start a sari-sari store in their facility.
The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office facilitated the enrolment of the rebel returnees to the blue health card program.
Around 12 individuals were also enrolled to the blue health card.
The caravan conducted in relation to the National Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict aimed to provide a holistic aftercare for the former rebels or rebel returnees by providing them various opportunities.
According to Laguna PPO, the caravan seeks not only to facilitate employment and education opportunities but also in assisting them in their livelihood as a means to prepare them to reintegrate back to the society.
