As of this writing, here are some of the winning and losing show business denizens who ran for public office in the Philippine 2022 elections last Monday, May 9.

Actor Daniel Fernando is reelected as Governor of Bulacan while his runningmate TV, film and stage thespian Alex Castro is elected as vice governor of Bulacan.

Award-winning actor Richard Gomez has been declared as new representative of the 4th District of Leyte to Congress while Richard’s wife, model Lucy Torres is now mayor of Ormoc City, Gomez’s seat of local political power will end June 30.

Former ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Sol Aragones lost to Ramil Hernandez, incumbent and reelected governor of Laguna while actress Angelica Jones failed to clinch her congressional bid for the 4th District of Laguna.

Action star Dan Fernandez has regained his congressional post in the first district of Laguna while his son with actress Sheila Ysrael Danzel Fernandez is hoping to be officially proclaimed as a provincial board member of the first district of Laguna.

It’s not a good political year for the Ejercitos when ER Ejercito losing his mayoralty bid in Calamba City, Laguna against Roseller Rizal. Meanwhile, ER’s wife actress Maita Sanchez failed to level up again as mayor of Pagsanjan in Laguna when thwarted by Cesar Areza. Only Jet Ejercito, one of the sons of Maita and ER was able to make it to the Pagsanjan council. Jerico Ejercito who ran as Laguna vice governor lost to Karen Agapay.

Former TH Queen and now social entrepreneur and TV host Marissa del Mar won a nomination seat for the OFW (One Filipinos Worldwide) party-list candidate.

2011 Miss Universe 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee is hoping to be named first nominee of ARTE Partylist which advocates for the retail, textile, tradition, entertainment and creative sectors.

Mocha Uson and Michelle Gumabao as aspirants to the House of Representatives via Mothers for Change partylist nominees while Karla Estrada is also aspiring for congressional seat as representative of Tingog party-list.

Action star Javi Benitez won as mayor of Victorias Negros Occidental while Yul Servo is vice mayor to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna.

Meanwhile, erstwhile child star Nash Aguas is more likely a councilor of the lone district of Cavite City.

“Pinoy Big Brother” champ EJ Falcon is the new vice governor of Oriental Mindoro while sexy actress Ina Alegre was reelected mayor of Pola, Oriental Mindoro.

Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub’s boyfriend Arjo Atayde is now a congressman of the first district of Quezon City while actor Alfred Vargas has been reelected as member of the Quezon City council, where he began his political career. Aiko Melendez has also returned to the QC city council.

Political newbie Angelu de Leon won a seat at the Pasig City council with winning Mayor Vico Sotto while Herbert Bautista lost his senate bid while radio broadcaster Raffy Tulfo ended at number 3 in the newly-elected senate and action star dubbed as Bad Boy of Philippine Movies Robin Padilla topped the winning senatorial line-up as early as the initial Comelec vote counts.

Ring superstar and actor Manny Pacquiao and comedian and senator of the Republic of the Philippines Tito Sotto lost their presidential and vice-presidential bids, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ara Mina’s husband Dave Almarinez lagged behind Ann Matibag for the San Pedro lone congressional district of Laguna.

Action star Dan Alvaro didn’t make it as a provincial board member of the Fifth District of Bulacan Province.
