Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on the face at the Oscars after he joked about Jada's baldness

Chris Rock got smacked in the face by Will Smith and heard some vulgarity after the comedian joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s appearance at the Oscars ceremony on Sunday.

“Jada, I love ya. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” Rock said with reference to Pinkett Smith’s appearance that referenced the movie "GI Jane” in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head while presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature.

Smith, who is nominated for best actor for "King Richard" and eventually won, walked on stage and slapped Rock in what at first appeared to be a scripted joke while audible gasps can be heard from the room.

It became apparent that the altercation was not scripted at all asmoments later Rock said “Wow,” on the mic, followed by

“Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.”

Smith, back in his seat, shouted back,

"Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth."

The broadcast bleeped Smith’s comments but when Rock insisted that it was a GI Jane joke, Smith repeated, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”

A couple of years ago, Jada came revealed she had alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes clumps of hair to fall out, resulting in her appearance.

Not even an hour after the altercation, Smith was announced as the “Best Actor” for “King Richard” and got emotional during his acceptance speech and apologized for his actions.

"I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees," Smith said with tears in his eyes. "This is a beautiful moment and I'm not crying for winning an award, it's not about winning an award for me."
Smith concluded, "I wanna be a vessel of love. I wanna say thank you to Venus and Serena, I just hope they didn't see that on TV."
