The people of Catanauan are enthusiastic in telling stories about the beach house and the shoreline actor Jericho Rosales owns in their coastal community.
“Nang pumunta kami sa Catanauan para mag-swimming, itinuro sa akin ng kasamahan naming tagaroon kung saan ang vacation house ni Jericho. Malapit lang sa may bayan pero siyempre, babangkain mo pa (When we went to Catanauan for swimming, my companion who’s a native of the town pointed to me the vacation house of Jericho. It was very near the town but you need to ride a boat to get there),” said Benny Castillo, a native of Sariaya whose family now resides in Padre Burgos, Quezon.
“Nang bumalik ako kamakailan, natanaw ko na nang malapitan ang lugar ni Jericho. Maganda (When I went back recently, I had a nearer view of Jericho’s property. It’s beautiful),” added Benny.
Castillo was narrating the story a few weeks ago when Jericho was still in La Union Province for surfing and vacation with wife Kim Jones.
La Union is also Echo’s favorite place primarily because of its surfing bay.
Rosales is indeed a sea person.
When another turn of restrictions was imposed during the Alert Level exercises last month, Jericho was dismayed he couldn’t surf again.
“Mamimitas na lang ako ng caimito (I would just pick up star apples),” he said to himself in one of his social media posts.
If ever Catanauan coves are developed, Echo would probably spend more time in the town than going up north.
At this point, the ocean paradise of Quezon Province has to be harnessed to attract more local as well as foreign tourists.
Paging our tourist spots developers, you can invest and surely win if you focus on the Bondoc Peninsula scenic nature.
According to high-end hair and makeup stylist Raki Orejola, a native of Gumaca, Quezon, the beaches in the towns of Macalelon, Catanauan, General Luna, Mulanay, San Narciso, San Andres etc. are potential tourist attractions if only given the priority to market them.
Tourism officials, what are you waiting for? Or the private stakeholders on rural development on ecotourism?
