The 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival has been running and showing nationwide for, at least, one week now.

The way the festival is going, the box-office results of the ten entries are already unofficially posted by various monitoring agencies.

It is because the only official org that comes out with the figures of the festival earnings is the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

There are many ways to skin a cat, anyway.

Many are joining the sketchy reports on the overall and individual sales of the entries just to establish and prove their legitimacy, no matter how they might be assuming and confusing in the media industry.

Film productions themselves release their own share of honestly computed if not padded or estimated box-office figures.

This year, will the perennial box-office names such as Vice Ganda, Vilma Santos, and Vic Sotto, among others, were the reliable standards at the tills.

From among the ten festival entries, namely, Mentorque Productions' "Univited," Viva Films' "Hold Me Close," Regal Entertainment's "My Future You," M-Zet Priductions' "The Kingdom," Kapitol Films' "Isang Himala," Nathan Films' "Topakk," Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company's "And the Breadwinner is...," GMA Pictures' "Green Bones," Reality MM Studio's "Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital" and Quantum Films' "Espantaho," which will be blessed or better still, gather the most number of moviegoers?

Each film outfit in the race is saying the affirmative but wait till the MMDA or the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) say so.

Because in the Philippines, unlike in other Asian countries, the government reports to the public the box-office revenues not only for scrutiny but inspiration as well of the real economic condition of the nation.
