After Nicole Laurel Asencio’s stellar performance as a balikbayan (a returnee to one’s native land) artist in the drama-musical “Katips,” an allusion to the revolutionary movement against the oppressive Spanish regime exemplified by student activism during Martial Law, director Vince Tañada got the artistic services of actress Mercedes Cabral.

Cabral, who rose to fame via "Latak (Residue)" directed by the controversial Fil-Briton filmmaker Jowee Morel and “Serbis (Service)” helmed by internationally acclaimed Brillante Ma. Mendoza, was a personal choice of Vince.

Mercedes plays the character of Miding, the mother of the dead.

The project has been shooting for days now at Gapan, Nueva Ecija where the cast and crew are locked-in.

While in the town, they made a courtesy call to the mayor, Emeng Pascual.

Other members of the cast include Vean Olmedo, Johnrey Rivas, Lili Montelibano and Juan Calma.
