Vilma Santos speak about significance today of 2000 film "Anak"

What makes a film classic?

One of them is the timelessness of the subject matter.

In this connection, the 2000 film "Anak" directed by Rory Quintos for Star Cinema resonates the classic tradition of the relevance of the masterpiece in the contemporary times.

Although done twenty four years ago, the importance of the film is seen in the delineation of filial relationships among kins--their problems and social challenges that the motion picture tries to solve and resolve.

During the symposium after the showing of "Anak" at the St. Paul University in Quezon City on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 1 pm, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos will talk about her experiences in the making of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) film written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee.

Vilma will also share her on-and-off-screen thoughts and feelings about motherhood.

"Yes, I will be there,"

said Vi to share with the audience the resecreening of 'Anak' which she is proud of.

Claudine Barretto, one of the stars of the movie will also be around as well as NA Ricardo Lee.

"Anak" is presented by Cine Icons, a Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)'s program which put the spotlights on the cinematic works of our National Artists organized by the Center's Film, Broadcast and New Media Division.Meanwhile, on the same day and venue at 8:30 am, CCP Lakbay Sine will show the award-winning fillm "Blue Room" directed by Ma-an Asuncion-Dagngalan, a SPUQC alumnus in 1994.
