Following the appointment of Batangas 6th District Representative Ralph Recto as the new Finance Secretary, avid “Vilmanians” and “Vilmates” are now curious if their idol Vilma Santos – the actress who is also known as Vilma Santos-Recto, the politician – will again throw her hat in the political ring.

The “Star for All Seasons” had held the position of congresswoman for the same district for three consecutive terms – as well as being mayor of Lipa City and governor of Batangas province – so her followers and observers are curious as cats if Vilma will return to legislation.

Santos' lookers-on say she has the edge and the knowledge to legitimately serve a new tenure on the job.

Or is she the perfect replacement for her husband Ralph?

"Nope. I am not the replacement. The Congress will decide on it," said Vi in her Facebook chat with this writer.

Officially, it is the House of Representatives who will determine whether a “special election” needs to be conducted in Batangas’ 6th District to determine Recto’s replacement.

Will Ate (a term of endearment to an older woman by blood or affinity) Vi run for the elective post?

"No na po muna (No already for the moment)," quipped Vilma when asked if she's interested to vie for the legislative post.

Vilmates is the new collective term for Vilma Santos' ardent fans which was coined by the actress herself.
