'It’s Showtime’ host Vice Ganda insisted that his absence in the grand finals of the segment ‘Miss Q and A’ was due to a “valid reason”
Actor-comedian Vice Ganda apologized for his extended absence in the variety noontime show ‘It’s Showtime,’ eventually missing the grand finals of the segment ‘Miss Q and A’ on Saturday, October 22.
Vice Ganda addressed the issue in his personal Twitter account saying he was not able to attend due to some “valid reason.”
“Sorry po wala pa rin ako sa Showtime. Kagabi pa ko umiiyak dahil di ako napayagan for a valid reason,” he wrote.
Prior to the grand finals of the said segment, the host has been missing from the show for weeks, only appearing again last October 17.
He did not provide a clear reason for his time away from the show but insisted he was just occupied with his “laundry.”
The influential comedian also revealed that the show was willing to reschedule the “Miss Q and A” for his return, but immediately refused as to not take away the spotlight from the contestants.
“‘Di ako pumayag na i-adjust ang date ng finals kasi this event is not about me. (I refused to adjust the date of the finals because this event is not about me). It’s about these beautiful girls and their talents,” he added. “So for now, let’s focus on them. Sorry po!”
“Kung alam nyo lang kung gaano to kasakit para sa akin. This segment is very inportant to me and very close to my heart. Aside from the fact na di ko masusuot yung mga pinagawa kong gowns para aliwin ko,” he also wrote.
As the grand finals pushed through, Anne Patricia Lorenzo was eventually named as Miss Q and A Kween of the Multibeks, winning a cash prize of ₱500,000, with ₱100,000 worth of beauty package, and ₱450,000 worth of business package.
Earlier this month, Vice Ganda had already assured his fans that he will be back after social media influencer AC Soriano tagged him in a video where AC was seen fake crying due to his absence.
Vice Ganda then replied, “I’ll be back soon.”
