The late actress and politician Maita Sanchez was the second biggest love of actor and former governor of Laguna Province ER Ejercito but it was she with whom he spent decades together.
Beauty queen-actress Emma Rose Policarpio was the first love of ER but their relationship was short-lived although they have a son whom he loves and cares very well.
Into his major venture into acting and eventually advent into politics, it was already Maita, Maita Javier in real life, who was at his beck and call.
It’s very painful, indeed, for Ejercito to see his angel left his side and treaded eternity.
From the first day of Maita’s wake to the final adieu, ER was always at the side of the dearly departed. He was the one receiving guests and mourners of his wife at the 1912 Don Porong Ejercito mansion in Pagsanjan.
In his social media notes, ER emotionally but profoundly announced the passing of Sanchez, a very active actress and politician in our midst.
“My lovely and beautiful wife, our dearly beloved Mayora Girlie ‘Maita’ Javier-Ejercito (April 2, 1969--November 3, 2024)…passed away today, November 3, 2024 at 12:01 AM due to endometrial cancer at the Saint Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) Quezon City.
“She was 55 and we have six children: Eric, Jet, Jerico, Jhulia, Diego, and Gabriela.
“Heartfelt thanks for all your love and prayers,” said ER.
Likewise, ER is proud of the achievements of Maita.
“Mayora Maita was an outstanding multi-awarded local chief executive from 2010 to 2019 who brought life, joy, and integrity into the significant programs and projects of Pagsanjan which is now recognized as the Tourist Capital of Laguna, Una sa Lahat.
“Mayora Maita was overwhelmingly elected and served as Mayor from 2010 to 2019) and Vice-Mayor from 2019 to 2022 of Pagsanjan, Laguna, and was also elected as LMP President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Laguna Chapter from 2010 t0 2016.
“Mayora Maita aka ‘Maita Sanchez’ was also one of the favorite actresses and leading ladies of the King of Philippine Movies, our Ninong, Fernando Poe, Jr.in ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin Part 2’ (1995), ‘Hagedorn’ (1996), ‘Pagbabalik ng Probinsyano’ (1998), ‘Ang Dalubhasa’ (2000) and ‘Batas ng Lansangan’ (2002).
“Her last movie was ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll Extreme’ (2023) produced by Regal Entertainment.
“Our family is requesting for prayers and mass offerings for the repose of her soul.
“Eternal rest grant unto her, O, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
