TWICE drops second full English-language track ‘Moonlight Sunrise,’ co written by a Filipina

South Korea’s Nation’s Girl Group TWICE is back to make everyone dance and swoon under the moonlight as it just released its second English-language single and a certified bop!

On January 20, the nine-piece group dropped the pre-release single ‘Moonlight Sunrise,’ for TWICE’s upcoming 12th mini-album ‘Our Youth,’ which will be out some time in March 2023.

With its electrifying sound and a beat that would force you to groove, TWICE surely outdid itself in this latest comeback about five months after the release of the group’s 11th mini-album ‘Between 1&2,’ led by the title track ‘Talk That Talk.’

According to All Kpop, TWICE’s new single immediately entered iTunes charts in various countries across the globe and debuted at No. 2 on the worldwide iTunes song charts.

In a matter of hours, the song soared and landed on the No. 1 spot on iTunes in a total of 30 countries which include, the Philippines, Brazil, Chile, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, and more.

Aside from producing a certified banger, ‘Moonlight Sunrise’ proved to be a monster hit as according to Spotify, TWICE has set a new record for the group as the biggest first-day debut on the global Spotify chart, surpassing the number "Talk That Talk" and "The Feels" at No. 60 with over 1.96 million accumulated streams.

After the song’s release, it was revealed and confirmed by Nina Nelson, a Filipina songwriter, on social media that she indeed co-wrote TWICE’s pre-release single.

"It's true, baby, it's me," she wrote on Twitter with the hashtag #MoonlightSunrise as reported by GMA News Integrated.

The Filipina also shared a snippet of their demo on her TikTok with the caption, "I co-wrote 'Moonlight Sunrise' for TWICE.”

‘Moonlight Sunrise’ was also co-written by earattack, Kaedi Dalley, and Lee Woo Hyun.
