Cobra Kai (2018-2025)

Thirty-four years after his defeat at the hands of Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, Johnny Lawrence’s life has taken a dramatic downward turn. Once living a privileged life in the affluent Encino neighborhood, Johnny is now a part-time handyman residing in a modest apartment in Reseda, Los Angeles.

Struggling with alcoholism and depression, he finds himself a far cry from the confident, wealthy teen he once was. His personal life is in disarray, as he has become estranged from his son Robby, whom he abandoned years earlier.

Meanwhile, Daniel LaRusso has experienced the opposite trajectory. He is the successful owner of a flourishing car dealership and lives a comfortable life with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Samantha (Sam) and Anthony. Despite his outward success, Daniel faces his own set of challenges, particularly when connecting with his children, a struggle that has intensified since the passing of his mentor and close friend, Mr. Miyagi, before the series' events.

Johnny’s fortunes begin to shift when he uses his karate skills to defend his teenage neighbor, Miguel Diaz, from a group of bullies. Impressed by Johnny’s abilities, Miguel convinces him to reopen the notorious Cobra Kai dojo.

Under Johnny’s guidance, Cobra Kai quickly becomes a haven for outcasts and bullied teenagers, instilling them with newfound confidence and camaraderie. However, the revival of Cobra Kai reignites Johnny's old rivalry with Daniel. In response, Daniel decides to open his dojo, Miyagi-do, to teach a different philosophy of karate.

This rekindles the tension between Johnny and Daniel, while also sparking a new rivalry between their students. As the competition heats up, the arrival of original Cobra Kai co-founders John Kreese and Terry Silver complicates matters further, pushing the rivalry to new heights.
