Actress-comedienne Tuesday Vargas recently celebrated her twentieth year in the entertainment industry in a nostalgic fashion.
In her Facebook posts, Tuesday recalled that her baptism of fire in show business happened when she was featured in “Classmates” which was shot at Studio 10 of ABS-CBN two decades ago.
Vargas was 21 years old at the time.
“Ang liit pa ni Kaya noon, kailangan ko talagang magkatrabaho para masuportahan ko ang anak ko (Kaya was still a kid. I needed to work to support my kid),” the UP Mass Comm graduate.
She remembered borrowing her mom’s car to get to her work.
“Wala din akong taping chair, mga accessories, sapatos na magaganda at ang mga damit ko ay pahiram lang din ng wardrobe or may sponsor sila ng Tshirt na pwede naming isuot sa (I didn’t have a taping chair, accessories, beautiful shoes and my clothes were lent by the wardrobe department or from sponsors of t-shirts we could wear in the) gags,” she recounted.
Tuesday didn’t have the idea that her show would generate more shows.
What made her career more decorated was the success of her first record album “Babae Po Ako.”
Vargas credited her friends and colleagues in the industry who gave her big breaks like Chi de Jesus (comedy bar shows), Mac Alejandre (movies) etc. and moral support from Eugene Domingo, Aiko Melendez, Katya Santos, Johnny Manahan also known as Mr. M, a certain Mama Bear and all the Segment Producers (SP), Assistant Directors (AD), Production Managers (PM) and all her directors on TV and film.
She also thanked her UP SAMASKOM theater family where she started her acting career. “Walang Tuesday Vargas kung walang Izel Sarangelo sa (There’s no Tuesday Vargas if there’s no Izel Sarangelo in) ‘Live A.I.D.S’”, she beamed with pride.
“20 years na ako sa industriya, nandito pa din ako at lumalagari sa halos araw-araw na biyaya ng aming trabaho. Yan ang isa sa pinaka pinahahalagahan ko. Madali maabot ang kasikatan pero ang longevity ay mahirap makamtan. Kaya sa inyo na patuloy na naaliw sa akin, ang dalawang dekada na ito ay para sa inyo (For twenty years, I am still here and working every day. That is what I am happy about. It’s easy to reach fame but longevity isn’t easily achieved. For those who are enjoying me, this is for you),” she gushed.
