Spongebob Squarepant’s best friend and “side kick” is now getting his own show.

Move over SpongeBob, Patrick Star is debuting to show who the real star is.

Nickelodeon has officially issued a 13 episode order for its Spongebob Squarepants spinoff The Patrick Star Show, which has been long rumored from the network.

The Patrick Star Show will follow the life of a younger Patrick who still lives with his family. This will serve as a prequel of the much loved SpongeBob SquarePants series. In the series, Patrick will be hosting a TV show from his bedroom.

Bill Fagerbakke, who has voiced the pink starfish since 1999, will return to play the beloved character.

Do not worry, your beloved characters will also be a part of the spinoff including SpongeBob, Mr. Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy and Plankton.

Fans would also meet the new characters including Squidina, Patrick's eight-year-old little sister, his parents, Bunny and Cecil, and his grandpa, GrandPat.

According to the President of Nickelodeon, Ramsey Naito, “Nickelodeon is diving deeper into Bikini Bottom to give fans a look at our lovable young adult Patrick Star and his entire family with a sitcom only he could imagine”.

Coincidently, the announcement of The Patrick Star Show was on the same day as the premiere of the first SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff ‘Kamp Koral: SpongeBob Under Years’. The show follows a 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his gang as they spend the summer at a sleepaway camp.

Back in 2019, it was also reported that Mr. Squidward is also getting his own spinoff. Though still no word on the progress of the spinoff, it was reported that it will be streaming through Netflix.

The Patrick Star Show will first debut on Nickelodeon before moving to Paramount Plus for streaming. (HD)
