The new national pageant of Empire Philippines, The Miss Philippines, transforms traditional pageant format to put emphasis on the global promotion of the country. For the first time, there will be no swimsuit competition event, glam red carpet moments and Ted talk-type speeches.
"The Miss Philippines is reinventing pageantry to come up with an event unlike any other. Here's to a unique way of gathering beautiful Filipinas around the world," The Miss Philippine organizers posted on their instagram.
In another post, organizers emphasized that the pageant also focuses on amplifying their voices, influence and passion towards the promotion of Filipino Culture and Heritage.
"It's not that we have anything against swimsuits. In fact, we will hold photoshoots at our world-famous beaches and resorts. But onstage, we'd like to shift the focus on things other than a woman's voice to be heard, for her influence to be felt, and for her passion to promote Filipino culture and heritage be amplified."
The Glam Red Carpet moment, on one hand, showcases individual character and personality of candidates and showcases their best version in formal wear.
The Miss Philippines and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide announced that fathers and married men, mothers and married women are welcome to apply.
"We believe that every individual, regardless of their marital status, can be an influential icon to promote the culture and heritage of the Philippines."
