Police in New York reported yet another incident of a person stalking pop star Taylor Swift in her apartment in New York City.
NEW York City police said they have arrested a man who reportedly tried to break in inside the apartment of singer Taylor Swift last Saturday night (April 17).
Hanks Johnson, 52, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Saturday after a 911 caller reported he was inside Swift’s apartment building in Tribeca without permission, a police spokesperson said.
Authorities were called to the Tribeca apartment after residents reported a call about a man who tried to gain entry when the front door of the building was opened.
Johnson was charged with criminal trespass and released on his own recognizance after an arraignment Sunday night.
An open warrant was said to be out for Johnson at the time because he missed a court date on April 6, which was related to a prior arrest in October 2019.
The New York Daily News reported that outside the courthouse, Johnson made a show of sending direct messages to Swift’s Instagram account and claimed the predictive text suggestions on his phone were replies from her.
He also showed off a restraining order barring him from contacting models Bella and Gigi Hadid, who are friends of Swift’s, the newspaper said.
Swift purchased three apartments in the building in 2018 and also owns a $17million townhouse next door.
The “Fearless” singer has been plagued over the years by stalkers at her homes on both coasts.
Another man was arrested for breaking into her New York apartment in 2018 and taking a nap inside, police said.
The latest incident came after a man who broke into Swift’s New York townhouse was sentenced to six months in jail.
Roger Alvarado, 22, was sentenced in February 2019 after pleading guilty to criminal contempt and attempted burglary. He was found sleeping in Swift’s home in April 2018, although the singer was not at home at the time. (NP)
