Hyunjin of Stray Kids met an accident during their Seattle concert date and will have to limit his activity in the next tour dates.
JYP Entertainment announced that Stray Kids member Hyunjin has suffered a hand injury during the group’s concert in Oakland on Tuesday, July 12 and would not be able to participate fully for the remainder of the North American leg of their ‘Maniac’ tour.
The accident happened prior to getting out of the stage as the idol reportedly hit his hand on a door by accident and was given first aid immediately.
Despite the accident, Hyunjin still opted to perform in their Seattle concert, and even managed to hold up a heart sign for the audience with his other hand.
After a thorough medical examination the next day, Hyunjin was advised to avoid straining his hand too much in order to prevent further injury.
“While the injury is minor, the doctor advised that he should restrain from making harsh movements, so he will avoid strenuous movements and focus on treatment for the time being,” the statement read.
“Therefore, we are informing you that Hyunjin’s performances for the remaining tour days may be partially limited,” the statement added. “We apologize for causing concern to STAYs [Stray Kids’ fanbase] who have been waiting for Hyunjin’s performances. We will do everything we can to support his swift recovery.”
The ‘Maniac’ world tour marks Stray Kids’ second world tour, following the release of their recent mini-album ‘Oddinary’, which arrived last month, earning the group’s first-ever entry and first Number One on the Billboard 200, making them the third K-pop boyband to top the chart.
‘Maniac’ is also a follow-up to the group's ‘District 9: Unlock’ world tour concert series that took place from late 2019 to early 2020, before the remaining shows were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this tour, the group has performed in Seoul, Kobe, Tokyo, Newark, Chicago, Atlanta, Fort Worth, and Los Angeles and is scheduled to go back to Tokyo on July 26 and 27.
