An executive of the famed sneaker line said they look to partner with brands and individuals such as Aleali – who authentically connect to Jordan Brand and the community. [Aleali] inspires young women to stay true to themselves without limitations.

Aleali May has lined up her next Jordan Brand collaboration – this time around, the duo has given the Air Jordan 14 Low a new look, which pays tribute to the talents of athletes with Filipino and Black heritage.

May has put her signature touch on the Nike Air Jordan 14 Low, a silhouette previously reworked by CLOT’s Edison Chen.

Stylist, fashion blogger, model and most recently sneaker designer Aleali May is a fashion tour de force bar none.

In celebration of the upcoming release, May shared through a campaign video the inspiration behind her latest design.

Throughout her collaborations, the 29-year old always tries to go back and say thank you to whoever was supporting her at the time.

May shared with Jordan Brand in an interview. “My grandmother on my dad’s side gifted me gold and jade bangles that she’d had for 20 years before that. As a young girl, my grandmother on my mom’s side also gifted me her jade bangles. Those were my first pieces of jewelry.”

The half Filipino, half African-American sneakerhead shares that she received Jade pieces from her grandmothers.

Her paternal grandmother born and raised in South Central, LA continues to be involved in the community with her daycare. Her grandma was born in Laguna, Philippines and later moved to Manila before making the move to America with her sister, Sue.

Great Tita Sue, as Aleali calls her, taught her to take risks. Aleali attributes who she is as a person to the special Queens who helped raise her.

In addition, a range of apparel is set to launch alongside the AJ14 Low. The garments include biker-style zip-up shirts, a black tee with retro Jordan branding, tank tops and shorts influenced by May’s connection with the motorbike culture in Los Angeles and Manila.

The Vice President of the Jordan Brand’s women’s business, Andrea Perez, talked about their decision in collaborating with Aleali.

“We look to partner with brands and individuals such as Aleali – who authentically connect to Jordan Brand and the community. [Aleali] inspires young women to stay true to themselves without limitations.”

Aleali May’s “Fortune” collection will be available on August 19.
