MLD Entertainment is working on forming a global girl group, which will reportedly include members from the Philippines, Japan, America, and other Asian countries.
Filipino K-pop fans may be rooting for another kababayan in the K-Pop industry very soon.
MLD Entertainment, home to the hit girl group Momoland, is expected to showcase a new girl group to be launched next year.
This time, the agency is working on a global girl group, which will reportedly include members from the Philippines, Japan, America, and other Asian countries.
The news was further hyped when MLD Entertainment hinted the debut of a new girl group in the first half of 2022 in its social media account.
According to the agency, the pre-debut lineup is selected from over 50,000 applicants who applied with the dream of debuting as K-pop idols.
Several auditions took place in various parts of the world, including the United States, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Only six people were selected with a competition ratio of 6000:1.
According to reports, this new girl group consists of members who have been practicing as short as one week to as long as one year and eight months.
One trainee who came from America and was accepted into the agency through an audition stated, "I dreamt of being a singer after watching a lot of K-pop groups. I want to become like TWICE or BLACKPINK who receives a lot of love from people."
Another trainee from South Korea explained, "The competition will continue even if I get lucky and debut. The only way to beat the competition is to build up the skills with practice."
Only two K-Pop idols with Filipino background have successfully debuted in South Korea. Kriesha Chu, who is a Filipino-American citizen, and the girl group Cignature’s Belle, who is also half-Filipino.
Youn Dongyeon, who is currently trying his luck in the survival show produced by JYP Entertainment's CEO Park JinYoung and P-Nation's CEO PSY, is also another Filipino to look out for in the K-Pop world.
