Sharon Cuneta got to attend her first Hollywood premier for the ‘Easter Sunday,’ along with other stars from the Philippine industry, featuring Filipino-American Jo Koy
Sharon Cuneta graced the “pink carpet” premiere of the American comedy film ‘Easter Sunday’ starring Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California on Tuesday, August 2.
In a series of Instagram posts, Cuneta shared pictures of herself from the premiere donning a Jot Losa jumpsuit and a vintage 1980s Escada velvet jacket, mingling with stars such beauty guru Patrick Starrr and bonded with the "much-missed" actress Princess Punzalan.
The megastar also met with Lou Diamond Phillips, her personal “crush," plus actors Rodney To, Melody Butiu, Eugene Cordero, Tia Carrere, Kelly Hu, and Lydia Gaston.
“I’m getting goosebumps,” Rodney To claimed as he walked towards Sharon.
Sharon also met with long-time friends, actor Reggie Lee, sharing an embrace while the megastar was also heard talking with singer-actress Anna Maria Perez de Tagle Kline that she sang with her grandmother, showbiz veteran Sylvia La Torre.
Other Filipino stars also attended the premiere at the Grauman’s including Vina Morales, Mica Javier, Ylona Garcia, and Raymond Gutierrez, had snaps taken by photographer Sthanlee Mirador.
“Artists from the Philippines Mega Star [Sharon Cuneta and] @Vina_Morales along with @Mica, @YlonaGarcia [and Raymond Gutierrez] hit the pink carpet at Jo Koy’s ‘Easter Sunday’ World Premiere in Hollywood,” Mirador stated on his Instagram page yesterday.
‘Easter Sunday’ is a Steven Spielberg-produced movie following a man returning home for an Easter celebration "with his riotous, bickering, eating, drinking, laughing, loving family, in this love letter to his Filipino-American community."
An all star cast of Asian-Americans was assembled including Jimmy O. Yang, Tia Carrere, Brandon Wardell, Eva Noblezada, Lydia Gaston, Asif Ali, Rodney To, Eugene Cordero, Jay Chandrasekhar, Tiffany Haddish and Lou Diamond Phillips.
Cuneta was initially part of the ensemble but later revealed that she was heartbroken after missing the opportunity to be a part of the film after testing positive for COVID-19 before flying to the states.
