Megastar cries over K-pop acts
The “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta could not keep her emotions after seeing her favorite South Korean boy group member Key of SHINee live at the “Begin Again: K-pop Edition” on Sunday, May 29, at the Araneta Coliseum.
“Kim Ki-bum, [ikaw] lang ang nagpapaiyak ng mama ko na ganto (You’re the only one who can make my mom cry like this),” her daughter Kakie Pangilinan shared on Twitter along with a picture of her mom doing the popular heart sign with her arms while getting teary-eyed.
Apparently, the “Megastar” is also a mega K-pop fan along with hundred pf fans who have waited for the concert scene to make a comeback in the country, specifically K-pop idols, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The veteran singer has been openly admiring these idols, even showing off her K-pop albums, photocards, and other merchandise, and revealing in one of her YouTube vlogs her admiration for SHINee and their labelmates NCT, who were also present in the said concert but only with a few of its members included in the subunit NCT Dream.
Cuneta then reposted the photo reiterating that Key is, so far, the only K-pop personality who’s made her this emotional: “Nakakahiya man pero SHINee (this time si Key pa lang) ang nakakakapagpaiyak sa akin nang ganito.”
A picture of Sharon sitting together with her kids was shared while holding lightsticks and photocards, along with a video of them entering the venue proper while being cheered on by fellow Filipino K-pop fans.
“Upon entering the Coliseum from backstage tonight (Nope, we didn’t see Key or NCT Dream there). Thank you, fellow K-pop fans! I felt like I was with friends,” she wrote.
The Begin Again concert is the first K-pop headlined concert in the country in the pandemic era and brought SHINee’s Key, groups NCT DREAM, ALICE, and WEi also performed.
