Before dropping the season finale for ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, ASTORY CEO bares plans in producing a second season with at least 90% of the original cast to be released in 2024.

ENA’s hit drama series ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo,’ starring Park Eun Bin, Kang Tae Oh, and Kang Ki Young, airs its final episode today. But talks are ongoing regarding a return for a second season by 2024.

On August 17, the CEO of ASTORY, the production company behind the series, Lee Sang Baek, told Edaily his plans to produce the second season of the legal drama series.

“Thanks to the support of many people, we will produce Season 2 of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo.’ The goal is to air Season 2 in 2024.”

He continued, “It is not easy to coordinate the schedules of the cast and production team, so we will have to go through a lot of discussion.”

The report also mentioned that the CEO wants at least “90 percent of original cast members in the drama,” leading to the extended time to plan the filming schedules for actors who have other work lined up.

He also explained that they plan to raise the viewers’ interest in the drama by exploring other content in which they can market the series such as using the drama’s intellectual property (IP), such as a webtoon which is already serialized, a musical, and merchandise, until Season 2 airs.

The series revolves around a genius lawyer with autism spectrum disorder and 164 IQ named Woo Young-woo, played by Park Eun-bin, joining a major law firm in which she uses her particular skills to achieve results while still struggling with social interactions.

Other characters have been well received by audiences as well such as Kang Ki-young, who plays senior lawyer Jeong Myeong-seok and Joo Hyun-young, who plays Woo’s best friend Dong Geurami.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is still on the rise with its nationwide rating as it premiered with just 0.948 percent in nationwide rating in Korea but eventually gained attention among viewers, even recording its personal best viewership of 15.780 percent during the ninth episode.
