With Sandara Park’s new agency, Blackjacks (fans of 2NE1) and her fanbase are patiently waiting for her solo music projects that will be in the works.
After 17 years with YG Entertainment, Sandara Park finds her new home at Abyss Company and is set for her solo debut after 2NE1.
Sandara, now known as Dara, moved to the Philippines when she was a student and shot to fame after being the runner-up in the ABS CBN’s reality show “Star Circle Quest” in 2004.
She's a phenomenon in the country which makes her an honorary Kababayan for Filipinos.
The K-Pop legend has an undying love for the country even though it has been almost two decades since she left.
Just recently, Dara waved the Philippine flag high once again in a recent TV guesting where she said that she has learned to embrace her Filipino English accent.
Dara said this in the June 30 episode of the show Video Star which airs on the South Korean network MBC.
“I was embarrassed by my accent at first,” she said in Korean.
“Philippine English has a unique accent.”
But after some people told her that the accent was cool and it matches her well, she happily embraced the accent and continues to speak with it every once in a while.
As a group, 2NE1 was one of the pioneer second-generation K-Pop groups who helped make K-Pop the global phenomenon that it is today.
Park formed 2NE1 in 2009, alongside fellow members CL, Park Bom and Minzy.
With their debut song ‘Fire’ in 2009, 2NE1 set various records and created history with their unconventional style and sound that gave their fans a fresh image of K-Pop.
Some of their hit songs include I Am the Best, I Don’t Care, Come Back Home, Lollipop, Can’t Nobody, and In the Club.
The band officially disbanded in 2016 after 7 years as a girl group.
Meanwhile, Dara spent three years exploring different projects.
She starred in her first Korean film One Step in 2017 and followed it up with a supporting role for the film version of Cheese in the Trap.
She also became one of the most in-demand MCs for lifestyle and variety shows in Korea with a string of appearances under her belt.
She is, currently, one of the hosts of Video Star.
Dara, also, pushed the envelope by appearing in musical theater, which also earned her a lot of praise from co-stars and audiences alike.
With her new agency, Blackjacks (fans of 2NE1) and her solo fanbase are patiently waiting for her solo music projects that will be in the works.
Let’s all hope that she will be back in the country for her future projects as we are all rooting for Sandara from her second home, the Philippines.
