Announced back in June of 2019, Paranormal Activity 7 was originally intended for theatrical release in March 2022 until Paramount opted to make it a streaming exclusive.
“Paranormal Activity” will be hitting the streaming platform just in time for the spooky season.
A new “reimagining” of the blockbuster movie Paranormal Activity will be released on the streaming platform Paramount + in October, alongside a documentary.
The seventh installment of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise that turned Blumhouse from a little-known indie banner into a massive Hollywood juggernaut was written by Christopher Landon and directed by William Eubank.
Specific plot details are still hiding under the blanket, but Tanya Giles, the Chief Programming Officer of ViacomCBS Streaming, revealed that the movie will be released alongside a special making-of documentary.
"A new Paranormal Activity from Paramount Players should bring fans an unexpected reimagining of the beloved horror franchise," Giles reportedly said during an appearance on the TCA press tour.

The Paranormal Activity franchise also includes a spin-off film, “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,” released back in 2014.
After premiering a new film consecutively every October from 2010 to 2012, the studio gave the Paranormal Activity franchise one last shot in 2015 with the sixth installment titled “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.”
Based on the declining performances of the sequels, it became apparent that the general public were growing tired of the same old techniques.
Though it’s been six years since the last film in the franchise was released, it will be interesting to see how the reimagining of the movie will play out for this year.
Especially opting for an exclusive streaming release, the franchise will need to step up the movie to a pretty high expectation from the streaming audience.
Given its Halloween specific release date, accompanying documentary, and ease of streaming from home, the franchise can only hope to garner a new set of following from the horror-hungry fanatics for the Paranormal Activity 7.
