As if to console Filipinos after Michelle Dee failed to make it to the Top Ten of the recently-concluded Miss Universe, Anna Lakrini bagged the second runner-up position at the 2023 Miss Globe pageant held at Albania last November 17.

Miss Malaysia Manvin Khera was crowned Miss Globe 2023, succeeding Miss Dominican Republic, Anabel Payano, who reigned in 2022.

Spain’s bet Katia Agbodo Rodriguez was hailed as the first runner-up, Miss Nigeria Duru Esther Chidera as the third runner-up, and Miss USA Kirstin Yvinne Bangs as the fourth runner-up.

Here are the special awards presented in this edition of Miss Globe: Miss Golden Girl is Belgium; Miss Tourism got by Miss Germany; Miss Dream Girl of the Globe got by North Macedonia; Miss Best National Costume got by Miss Taiwan; Miss People’s Choice is Jamaica; Miss Photogenic is Miss Laos; Miss Elegance is Miss Czech Republic; Miss Runway is Miss Albania; Miss Social Media is Miss Japan; Miss Friendship is Miss Hawaii; Miss Head to Head Challenge is Miss South Africa; Miss Talent is Miss Malaysia; and Miss Bikini is Miss Brazil.

Lakrini, whose silver gown designed by Filipino designer Louis Pangilinan got her into the Top 15 at the evening-gown category, almost got the crown with her answer to the question, “What is your favorite life motto and why do you choose that?”

“Well, my favorite life quote would be to always enjoy the moment, ‘cause you never know when it’s too late. I am very happy that my family is here, actually, because I haven’t seen them in 2 years. And you know, it’s always important to live in the moment, live ‘cause you never know when it’s too late, and I think COVID really showed us to really enjoy each and every single second with family members, loved ones, or just friends.”- Anna Lakrini statement during the Miss Globe Question and Answer portion.

The Philippines already has two Miss Globe crowns: Ann Lorraine Colis in 2015 and Maureen Montagne in 2021.
