Philippines has so much to be proud of in the 2021 Miss Universe.

Though we did not bring home the crown for the 2021 Miss Universe, the whole country could not be more proud with the representation of the Philippines in the event.

Starting from none other than our Miss Universe Bea Gomez. With her exceptional performance, Gomez made the Philippines proud even after bowing out in the Final Five. Outpouring support was sent to Gomez after the pageant from her co-beauty queens.

She extended the country's semifinal streak to 12 years and entered the top 10 and top 5 for the first time since 2018, when Catriona Gray won. Gray, who is the 2018 Miss Universe, tweeted out her message, “You made us so proud Bea!!!”

Pia Wurtzbach, meanwhile, stressed the importance of Gomez’s achievement of advancing to the top 5. “Yakap mga kababayan. 2018 tayo last nag top 5. We should be proud of Bea!” the Miss Universe 2015 winner also tweeted.

The Miss Universe Philippines Organization also expressed gratitude for this year’s bet.

“You were phenomenal,” they wrote. “Thank you for bringing glory to our country, @beatriceluigigmz. We are very proud of you!”

In the said post, MUPH 2020 Rabiya Mateo commented: “Maraming salamat, Bea!!! Proud na proud kaming lahat sayo!”

Another Filipina who grabbed the attention of the world during the pageant was actress Marian Rivera. The Kapuso star was included in Miss Universe’s all-female panel this year, which includes supermodel Adriana Lima and Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere.

"Girl power. Had a great time with these wonderful and kind ladies," Rivera said as she shared snaps from the event.

She even trended in the pageant’s preliminaries as she posted a video of her fellow judge, Bollywood star Urvashi Rautela, dancing to her hit song “Sabay Sabay Tayo”. This got the attention of netizens as they enjoyed seeing these two women interact in such a goofy way.

Lastly is the 20-year old fashion designer Kennedy Jhon Gasper who designed Miss Nigeria’s national costume. Miss Nigeria Maristella Okpala took home Best National Costume, stole the show in an eye-catching “Mmanwa” look inspired by a famous traditional masquerade of a southeastern tribe in Nigeria.

Gasper is a third-year college student from Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija. Last year, the young designer went viral after creating the “Lioness” national costume for Miss Universe Cameroon 2020 Kossinda Angeles.
