Ashley Melendez of Puerto Rico bagged their first Miss Global crown during the recent coronation night in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
She succeeded Miss Global 2022, Shane Tormes from the Philippines, making her the first ever Puerto Rican beauty to win in the Miss Global.
On the other hand, Haylani Pearl Kuruppu of Samoa got the first runner-up; Thailand’s Chonnikarn Supittayaporn got the second place; Pearl Hung of the Philippines got the third place; and Doan Thu Thuy of Vietnam was the fourth runner-up.
According to New Zealand Media, Haylani Pearl Kuruppu's victory is a history win, as she is the first Somoan beauty queen to enter the final five of any international beauty pageant.
Despite her sweet victory, other beauty queens unintentionally steal moments from Miss Samoa.
During the Top 20, when the host announced Miss Samoa, Miss Bahamas took the stage and walked through the line of the Top 20.
However, the host gently reminded the contestants of who was supposed to join the Top 20. Miss Bahamas gave Miss Samoa a hug as they switched places.
Another confusion happened when Miss Samoa was first called to enter the Top 5 and Miss Solamia walked forward.
Miss Global is an emerging prestigious annual beauty pageant living their slogan, “Empowering women, Embracing Cultures, and Embodying the Beauty Within."
