You make us proud, Michelle!
Philippines’ bet Michelle Arceo raised Filipinas during the 32nd edition of Reina Hispanoamerica (RHA) 2023, where she finished 2nd runner up.
Miss Peru Maricielo Gamarra clinched the crown in this year’s event, succeeding Arlette Rujel.
Miss Brazil Cynthia Moura was proclaimed 1st runner-up, followed by Miss Curacao Bianty Gomperts and Miss Colombia Paula Andrea Alarcon.
The Miss Grand Philippines management congratulated Michelle for her placement in the RHA journey in its social media page.
“Congratulations to our very own Michelle Arceo for placing as the Segunda Finalista (2nd Runner-Up) in the Reina Hispanoamericana 2023-2024. We are so proud of you! You represented our country very well. Thank you for raising our flag. Mabuhay Filipinas,” the pageant organizer said.
During the evening gown, Michelle flaunts "Pula,” which symbolizes “Kabayanihan at Kagitingan," an intricately beaded red gown made by Louis Pangilinan.
“Red is a color that symbolized profound courage and sacrifices deeply rooted in Filipino Heritage. Drawing inspiration from the iconic red banner of the Philippine Flag, Louis Pangilinan, renowned Filipino Designer, meticulously crafted this garment to convey a sense of patriotism and valor with sophistication and a hint of sexiness,” Michelle wrote on her Instagram page.
Heading to the grand finals, Michelle also swayed Bolivia with her “Reina de La Flor” national costume, which is inspired by the Waling-Waling. Designed by Chino Christopherson, she embodied “Queen of the Philippine Flowers.”.
“Drawing inspiration from the vibrance of carnivals and the intricate details of Victoria’s Secret fashion show wings, my costume showcases a bodysuit adorned with iridescent rhinestones, crystals, and Japan-cut beads. Tassel accent and raindrops acrylic stones elegantly capture the uniqueness of the Waling-Waling,” Michelle wrote on her Instagram post.
“The sculpture floral back and headpiece feature carefully spray-painted large orchids, mimicking the realistic beauty of the Waling-Waling. Silver and rainbow stones represent water droplets, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble,” she added.
In 2017, the Philippines first joined the competition, represented by Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez, making her the first Filipina and first Asian woman to win the coveted title for Hispanic American countries in 2017.
