Back after years of hiatus, Paramore is back with a new single and upcoming album, together with the news that members Hayley Williams and Taylor York are now dating.
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York have developed a romantic relationship which they confirmed in a new interview with The Guardian on Thursday (September 29).
Their announcement came as they were being interviewed regarding their hiatus, as well as their upcoming album ‘This Is Why’, set to be released in 2023.
The album will be their first new record since 2017’s ‘After Laughter’.
The couple decided not to comment further on their relationship, but rumors have been circulating as early as 2020 when Williams released her solo project “Petals for Armor”, following an interview with Pitchfork that her song “Crystal Clear” was about “falling in love.”
Changing paths
During the same interview, Paramore also revealed that they are no longer performing as a Christian band, joining several ex-Christian rock and metal bands and soloists who have decided to change their paths.
According to the members, they are all at different stages of unravelling their relationship to faith.
"You're brought up being told something is ultimate, you unpack that and then find out that it's tangled up with some other random shit over here,” Williams explained.
Williams also previously dated a former member of the band, Josh Farro, brother of drummer Zac Farro, which ended abruptly leading him to quit the band in 2011.
Hayley then married longtime partner New Found Glory’s guitarist Chad Gilbert in 2016 after eight years of dating, but ended up getting divorced a year later. The divorce was finalized in 2017.
Williams co-founded Paramore in 2004 with drummer Zac, former lead guitarist Josh, and former bassist Jeremy Davis, while York joined the group in 2007 during its Riot! album era.
As part of their promotions, Paramore will kick start their tour in October, their first in four years, with tickets already available online.
