P-pop groups performed in front of a live audience at the MOA Arena for the Tugatog Filipino Music Festival with 17 acts in the line up
Pinoy pop groups have come together to perform in the first-ever Tugatog Filipino Music Festival, to promote new Filipino Music at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday.
ALAMAT, BGYO, BINI, and MNL48 led the 17-group lineup in the event which was dubbed as the “stage for top Filipino talents to celebrate the best of OPM year after year,” which aimed to highlight the music, culture, and identity of Filipinos.
The 6-hour music festival featured collaborating performances from Calista, Dione, G22, LITZ, R-Rules, Yara, The Juans, and Zack Tabudlo.
P-Pop Generation, LITZ, VXON, 1st.One, Daydream, R Rules and Press Hit Play also graced the Tugatog stage with their own songs.
The top five trainees from the talent search competition “Top Class” were also featured and given the chance to perform on the stage, while the remaining trainees were also seen in the area.
“The goal is to take Tugatog to the live stage. We’re very excited about the possibilities that are unique to doing this online, but of course nothing compares to live,” said Sarah Ruth Matias, CEO of producer Ant Savvy Creatives and Entertainment Inc.
Tugatog was originally announced as a live streamed event which was set to happen on June 18.
However, in April, organizers announced that Tugatog will instead be held in front of a live audience at the MOA Arena on July 15.
“P-pop is really embracing our roots and heritage for the contemporary audience. We are not just inspired by their craft but also how they inspire other people, young and old, through their music and stories of training and hard work to reach their current status as P-pop idols now,” Executive Strategy and Communications Officer Anj Heruela said about Tugatog during the event’s press conference in February.
