It is harvest time once more for international plums for Nora Aunor.
After the conferment on her of the National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, the highest honor a Philippine artist can receive, Nora will be awarded next at the 7th World Class Excellence Japan Awards (WCEJA) at Fukuoka, Japan, to be held at New Otani Hotel on October 30, 2023.
This was confirmed by Aunor herself when she recently talked online with Asia’s Princess of Songs Emma Cordero.
“Oo naman, okay ako, walang problema lalo na’t nagkakausap na tayo ngayon tungkol d’yan (Of course, I am okay, no problem especially now that we are talking about it),” quipped Ate (an expression or address of endearment to an older sister by blood or by affinity) Guy during Emma’s conversation with her in official Emma Cordero Youtube.
According to Emcor—Cordero’s moniker—La Aunor will be given a tribute titled “Nora Aunor, The Superstar,” a Golden Honor in the Field of Motion Picture.
Emma was teary-eyed and overwhelmed when the Superstar agreed to appear personally in Japan to receive the award.
“Nagpapasalamat ako kay Ate Guy dahil noon pa ay pinangarap ko nang makasama siya. Ito nga ang ibinigay sa atin na opportunity ni Lord. Kahit noong nagsimula pa lang ang WCEJA, si Ate Guy na agad ang nasa isip ko noon dahil alam naman natin na ang isang Nora Aunor ay pride ng bawat Filipino. Si Ate Guy, nagsikap para makatulong sa pamilya at gano’n din ako kaya in one way or the other, halos pareho ang pinagdaanan namin (I thank Ate Guy because I really dreamed to be with her. This is an opportunity given to me by the Lord. When WCEJA started Nora was already in my mind because we know that she is a pride of every Filipino. She persevered to help her family which was akin to what I’ve been into),” explained Cordero.
During the first meeting of Emma and Nora at Mario’s Restaurant, it was a mutual sincerity they felt.
“Through WCEJA, Ate Guy and I crossed paths,” exclaimed Emma during her talk with Nora in the presence of ex-ABS-CBN entertainment reporter co-host and Direk (Director) Obette Serrano and Baby Eliz Latoja.
WCEJA will hold its Philippine edition on July 18, 2023 at the Heritage Hotel where Aunor is also invited.
“Sabihan niyo lang po ako at darating ako (Just tell me and I will be around),” said Guy.
