This award-giving body has overtaken all award givers in the whole Philippines and the opening yet of the New Year.
Guild of Educators, Mentors and Students (GEMS) Awards group recently announced on its fifth edition their best choices for last year in various media platforms which had rendered impact not only on the selectors but on the winner’s contributions to the public in general.
GEMS Awards are categorized in six aspects of media — film, print, digital, stage, radio, and television.
Best Performers
While Nora Aunor lost in the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival Awards for her role as the lame, suffering mom and wife long forsaken by her seaman-lover, in GEMS’ standards she deserves the Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role award in Heaven’s Best Productions’ “Isa Pang Bahaghari” while Phillip Salvador as the returning remorseful partner who was thwarted the best actor award in the fest, this time takes home the Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role in the same movie.
Meanwhile, Michael de Mesa as the gay friend of the seafarer wins Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male or Female) in the same film whose maker romps away with the Best Film Production of the Year Award.
The Best Film goes to Black Sheep Productions’ “Fan Girl” while Antoinette Jadaone receives Best Director for the project.

A certain Elberto Regis of Regis Film and Entertainment is being recognized by GEMS as the Natatanging Hiyas ng Sining ng Pelikula (Outstanding Gem in the Art of Film).
