In a ceremonial mood of lighting the candles of leadership, a new president of Soroptimist International of Bagong Parañaque City was recently installed into office at the Manila Elks Club in Makati City.
Imelda Rivero-Vibar, businesswoman and cousin of popular newscaster and actor Bon Vibar, was inducted in office along with other officers and members of the organization.
Rivero-Vibar said her administration will adhere to a more dynamic public service especially to the less fortunate. Friendliness not only among club members but also to ordinary people is encouraged. Patronage of arts and culture are also in her governance platform. She also welcomed the suggestion of a Rotary Club chapter to clean up the waterways of Parañaque City.
Guest speakers during the induction were Bulacan lawmaker Linabelle Villarica, SIAPR Governor Gigie Peñalosa and past governor Tes Choa and District Director Rema Gorospe Tan Manzano.
Rivero-Vibar was married to the late Jose “Butch” Vibar, first cousin of Bon.
“Kaya pala, mestiza ka (It’s no wonder you’re mestiza),” this writer teased Imelda, Mel to her kith and kin.
She laughed boisterously.
