Not a few musical entities are associated with National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab. One of them is the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival, an annual music event that promotes the growth and development of Filipino music not only in the country but across the globe as well.

Although the still raging Covid-19 pandemic has hampered mostly the headway of the project, Pinoy Playlist Music Fest continuously finds its way to the audience by bringing in contemporary tunes and their artistry.

Mr. C, Cayabyab's moniker, would want to explore more and discover the hidden musical talents of Filipino artists in his advocacy in unleashing what he dreams of a national music identity.

In doing so, he connects to the diverse social, cultural and geo-political landscapes of the regions from the imperial Manila to the provinces to the peripheries of the countrysides.

For how can a city-centric veteran and expert as he could monitor deserving musical artists from the far-flung areas?

"We have networks around the country to check on the potential talents," Ryan disclosed during an exclusive interview at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Annex immediately after rehearsals for "Anywhere We Sing Is Home," a gala concert which he is the musical director for the 54th founding anniversary of the state agency on arts and culture to be shown tomorrow, September 9 and Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.

Cayabyab underscored the unique and original Kapampangan music, for one, as a source of a national music identity.

"Anywhere We Sing Is Home" topbills Joanna Ampil, Aicelle Santos, Gab Pangilinan, Gerald Santos, Coke Bolipata, among others with Floy Quintos at the helm.
