Following the release of “Detective Pokemon” in 2020 and “Godzilla vs. Kong” earlier this year, Legendary Entertainment is continuing its endeavor for live-action adaptation.

This movie will have to go the next mile to win fans over this beloved anime series.

The upcoming live-action adaptation of “My Hero Academia” has just landed a director: Shinsuke Sato, who previously directed the Netflix series Alice in Borderland and fantasy film Kingdom.

Following the release of “Detective Pokemon” in 2020 and “Godzilla vs. Kong” earlier this year, Legendary Entertainment is continuing their endeavor for live-action adaptation.

Further information surrounding the film including its cast and release window have yet to be announced.

The project was first announced in 2018.

“My Hero Academia” is centered around Izuku Midoriya, a young student who’s a huge fan of superheroes despite not having any natural abilities called ‘quirks’ of his own.

In a chance encounter, he meets the most powerful superhero in the world, All-Might, from which he inherits a powerful quark of his own.

Midoriya enrolls into the prestigious U.A High School hero academy and begins his tumultuous journey to becoming the world’s greatest hero.

The manga made its debut in 2014 and has currently published 31 volumes.

The first season of the anime came out in 2016 with the sequel following a year later.

Season 3 aired in 2018, while the fourth season started in the Fall of 2019 and ended in Winter 2020. Currently, the 5th season is airing on Crunchyroll, an anime streaming platform.

The series has also spawned three animated films to date: 2018’s “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes,” “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising in 2019,” and most recently, “My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission” earlier this month via Funimation in the United States.

One of the reasons it’s so popular is because it’s very much inspired by popular comic book franchises and movies so it’s got a little something for everyone.

A live-action adaptation could potentially bring that crowd-pleasing alchemy to a wider audience.
