No one was more affected by the sudden death of “Jukebox King” Victor Wood than Martin Escudero, who played the 70’s icon in an upcoming biopic.

No one was more affected by the sudden death of “Jukebox King” Victor Wood than the young actor who played Wood in an upcoming biopic of the 70’s icon.

“I felt very sad of his passing,” Martin Escudero said in an exclusive phone talk early Saturday afternoon.

Not only was Wood a colleague and a senior star who most of the time a mentor but more so, Escudero has imbibed his whole life into his character when he portrayed the singer-actor’s persona in the biopic “Jukebox King: The Life Story of Victor Wood,” directed by Carlo Ortega Cuevas from EBC Productions.

“Para ko na rin pong tatay si Tito Victor. At ako pa ang gumaganap sa kanyang buhay,” he told OpinYon.

Escudero said he is still devastated by the passing of the iconic singer who popularized many hit songs like “I’m Sorry My Love,” “Mr. Lonely,” and “Inamorata,” among others.

Wood passed away yesterday (April 23) at the age of 75 of complications due to Covid-19.
