After intermittent personal meetings during the pre-Covid -19 pandemic and three solid years of absence from one another at the height of the global pest health emergency, father and daughter finally united and how.
Filipino actress Mara Lopez and dad businessman-surfer Hiroshi Yokohama met physically and hugged each other tightly over the weekend not in the Philippines where Mara stayed for the longest time and where Hiroshi put up his surfing paraphernalia enterprise but in Japan.
Mara, together with her mom, 1982 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Maria Isabel Lopez came to Japan to pay their patriarch a visit and to reunite with kith and kin they've not seen and kept in touch especially during the pandemic.
Mara was too excited to physically meet anew her father she hasn't seen for years because of the Covid-19 restrictions.
"We made it to Tikunoshima. Mom and dad reunited after so many years," stated the younger Lopez in her Facebook wall with a photo showing her, Maribel and Hiroshi eating together.
It was also the occasion where Mara would update her dad about her engagement with American businessman fiancé Chandler Booth.
Meanwhile, it was a friendly visit and chat of Maribel with ex-husband.
"Visiting Tokunoshima island for Obon Yasumi-Japanese version of the Day of the Dead. Mara reunited with her father," wrote Maria Isabel in her social media posts.
According to the beauty queen, their travel to Japan was a long overdue vacation.
"We went to Kabukicho Shinjuku, Tokyo! Back there after more than a decade since walking the green carpet of Tokyo International Film Festival in 2011," she gushed.
Maribel came from Sebastopol, California where she has been staying with husband-lawyer Jonathan Melrod.
It was a fascinating August spree for Mara and Maria Isabel, mother and daughter bonding.
