MAMAMOO’s Hwasa will make her solo comeback this month.
THE Queen of K-Pop Hwasa of MAMAMOO is making a comeback this month with her new single album ‘Guilty Pleasure’.
Fans have been speculating about her solo album after MAMAMOO’s last comeback in June.
The vocalist took to the group’s official social media on November 11 at midnight to announce that she would be making her highly anticipated solo return on November 24 at 6pm KST with a single album titled ‘Guilty Pleasure’.
The unsettling teaser of ‘Guilty Pleasure’ features water-themed imagery.
Hwasa is seen opening her eyes underwater, sitting motionless in a tub, and being spilled out of a crate filled with water.
Then ends with a drenched Hwasa walking in the dark to answer a knock at the door.
Theories rose from the revealed trailer. The 50 - second trailer seemingly shows that the comeback is already prepared since "Maria," showing concept photos from a year ago.
This is the long-awaited follow-up to 2020 hit album 'María'. Earlier this year she released two albums with MAMAMOO, ‘Where Are We’ and ‘I Say Mamamoo: The Best’. The ‘Where Are We’ album marks the 7th mini-album of the group while ‘I Say Mamamoo: The Best’ is a greatest hits compilation for their 7th year anniversary.
Hwasa alo released solo music aside from her group releases. She dropped her collaboration with rookie band Kinda Blue ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ and with Korean hip-hop artist DPR Live and Beenzino with ‘Hula Hoops’.
The forthcoming record follows her hit first mini-album ‘María’, which dropped over a year ago in June. That project featured a lead single of the same name, as well as her debut 2019 solo single ‘Twit’. ‘Guilty Pleasure’ will also be Hwasa’s first solo release since she renewed her exclusive contract with RBW Entertainment earlier this year.
MAMAMOO’s contract with RBW Entertainment expired last June. Hwasa, along with members Solar and Moonbyul, decided to renew their contract while Wheein signed with another The L1ve Label.
