LOONA members contract COVID-19
11 out of the 12 members of K-pop girl group LOONA tested positive for COVID-19, the group’s management Blockberry Creative announced on Tuesday, March 1.
According to Soompi, the first three members tested positive on February 26 and while the other members’ results were all negative, all of the remaining members still underwent both antigen tests and PCR tests again on February 27 in consideration of the incubation period of the virus.
After the circulating news of the positive cases in the group, the agency finally announced and named the members on Monday, February 28, that the group was not participating in the filming of the first episode for survival show Queendom because three members – Haseul, Yeojin, and Vivi –were diagnosed with COVID-19.
“We apologize for giving both the fans and those involved [with “Queendom 2”] cause for concern, and we will do our utmost to ensure the health and safety of our artists” , said the agency.
On Tuesday, March 1, Blockberry Creative made another announcement that eight more members had contracted the virus.
The post read:
“Hello, this is Blockberry Creative.
We would like to inform you of the results from the PCR tests conducted on February 27.
Between February 28 and March 1, LOONA members Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won, and Olivia Hye have tested positive for COVID-19.
All of the members except Heejin and Yves have received their booster shot while Heejin and Yves have received 2 doses of the vaccine. LOONA will half all activities for the time being and take the necessary measures according to the authorities’ guidelines.
The health and safety of our artists is our top priority and we will do our best for the swift recovery of the members.

South Korea is currently facing a surge of COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant and has hit a total of 3.2 million cases and 138,993 daily cases were confirmed as of March 1.
