Idol couple HyunA and Dawn announced their break up in a social media post but assured fans that they still decided to remain as friends.
Korean idol couple HyunA and DAWN announced their separation in an Instagram post on November 30, after being in a relationship for six years and announcing their engagement nine months before.
HyunA made a post on her Instagram account saying “We broke up. We decided to remain as good friends and colleagues from now on. Thank you always for your support and for looking over us fondly,” as translated by Soompi.
The couple had been rumored to be in a relationship in 2016 but was initially denied by both sides and only publicly announced their relationship in 2018 and confirmed that they have been seeing each other for two years already.
“We’ve been going out with each other for two years. We know this would result in some kind of labeling, but we thought it would be hard to look straight into the eyes of our fans (without being honest). So we decided to be honest with our loving and supporting fans and come to the stage with confidence,” they told Yonhap News.
In 2019, DAWN and HyunA left their record label Cube Entertainment and later on signed with PSY’s label, P Nation, where the couple released a joint EP, 1+1=1, in September 2021 reported Channel News Asia.
Their joint album featured four tracks including the hit song “PING PONG.”
In February 2022, though neither of the two confirmed, created a buzz online after posting a video where the couple was seen wearing matching rings on their ring fingers.
Dawn wrote “MARRY ME” on his Instagram post, meanwhile, HyunA captioned her own post with “Of course, it’s a yes,” and "Thank you, thank you, always thank you."
On August 29, 2022, the couple yet again made the headlines after their label announced that they were officially parting ways with both artists.
