Pop star Katy Perry shared that she’s played the original video games and traded Pokémon cards, as well as played the popular mobile game Pokémon GO.
KATY Perry has released her new single “Electric” in collaboration with Pokémon for its 25th anniversary.
The track is part of the upcoming compilation Pokémon 25: The Album.
Electric’s music video dropped on May 14 starring the pop star and the iconic Pikachu directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada (Raya and the Last Dragon) and was shot in Hawaii.
Perry previously shared that she’s played the original video games and traded Pokémon cards, as well as played the popular mobile game Pokémon GO.
“When I visited the Pokémon Café while touring Japan, I got so nostalgic. It took me back to my junior high years,” Perry said in a statement. “The song’s themes—resilience, igniting your inner light—have guided my life and also parallel Pokémon’s story and characters.”
Limited-edition merchandise also dropped featuring Pikachu and Katy Perry with a t-shirt, hoodie, and tote bag.
Pokémon 25th anniversary, officially branded as Pokémon25, is an ongoing celebration for the 25 years of the Pokémon franchise which began in 1996.
Fans of the franchise and players have been enjoying the new game, New Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo Switch.
Also announced are the games Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, remakes of the 2006 Nintendo DS games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
Fans are most excited about the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Arceus to be released in early 2022. The game will be an action role-playing game, a first for the main-series games.
For now, fans can enjoy Katy Perry’s motivational Electric single as they await the next release for this year’s anniversary celebrations.
