This isn’t rumor.
This is historical fact.
The Philstagers Productions’ “Katips,” a foray on the evils of Martial Law in the Philippines in the 1970s won Best Film at the 70th Famas awards last night.
“The movie counters the disinformation about Martial Law. The evils of Martial Law are historical facts and nobody can erase them,” revealed days before the awards ceremony by Vince Tañada, who bagged the Best Director plum for “Katips.”
Vince also took home the Best Actor trophy for the same film which showed a student activist who fought the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.
Charo Santos was proclaimed Best Actress for “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon,” a narrative on the effects of typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) on residents of Tacloban City.
“Katips' Johnrey Rivas brought home the Best Supporting Actor while “Big Night”’s Janice de Belen was named Best Supporting Actress.
Jun Robles Lana won the Best Screenplay award for “Big Night” while Manuel Abanto clinched the Best Cinematography plum for “Katips.”
