The LGBTQIA+ community has scored anew when one of their members won an award.
Kaladkaren, the transgender artist who just won Best Supporting Actress at the recently concluded 2023 Summer Metro Manila Film Festival awards night, yelled and upheld the rights and triumphs of diverse gay people.
“This award is for all the members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I represent you so this award is for you,” said Kaladkaren, who rose to fame when she impersonated ABS-CBN news anchor Karen Davila.
Kaladkaren, Jervi Lisaba in real life and a graduate of Broadcast Communication at UP Diliman, said her award is the testament not only of her hard work but the acceptance of the larger community in gender benders like her.
She won the plum for her role as a gay person in the movie “Here Come the Groom,” an official entry to the inaugural Summer Metro Manila Film Festival which is ongoing and showing its eight official entries in cinemas nationwide until April 19, 2023.
