The story will center on a K-pop boy group who accidentally landed in Texas, just two days before its global debut that is supposed to happen in New York.

Hallyu and Hollywood might cross paths in an all-star project brewing on the horizon.

CJ ENM, in collaboration with director Yoon Jae Kyun and producer Lynda Obst, plans to release a K-pop movie with numerous K-pop stars and pop icons as cast.

This ambitious project was announced last August 10 by CJ ENM.

According to reports, the entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM is set to kick off with a new blockbuster film, "K-pop: Lost in America" which is still a working title.

The story will center on a K-pop boy group who accidentally landed in Texas, just two days before its global debut that is supposed to happen in New York.

The movie will reveal how the members will overcome their dilemmas of having no money and little time, to be able to successfully debut and perform on their dream stage.

Linda Obst will serve as a producer, bringing her expertise that helped movies like Interstellar, Contact and Sleepless in Seattle.

Obst described “Lost in America” as a passion project, drawing on her love for all things Korean, especially K-Pop.

K-Pop and K-culture have never been more in-demand.

The critically acclaimed director JK Youn, who is best known for films like 2009’s Haeundae and 2020’s Pawn, is also another power house that would really boost this movie to another level.

Combining CJ ENM’s globally recognized production capabilities with the brilliant minds of smash-hit creators Lynda Obst and JK Youn, we have no doubt that we will be able to showcase a very special movie that will appeal to a global audience and K-Pop fans alike.

Castings are to begin immediately in the South Korean capital and expected to be also completed in August, with pre-production starting right after.

It is very exciting to see who will be in the cast in this project as the producers are hoping to cast real life K-Pop idols in addition to movie icons hailing from South Korea.

K-Pop Lost In America plans a 2023 release.
